How to Connect Huawei Watch to ChatGPT and Claude.ai

A practical manual for Huawei watch users: enable Health Service Kit, connect Huawei Health to Intervals.icu, check the data that actually arrives, then use STAS with ChatGPT or Claude.ai for analysis and planning.

Short answer

Huawei can work with STAS when your completed workouts reach Intervals.icu through Huawei Health. Start by proving that one recent workout is visible in Intervals.icu with distance, duration, GPS, heart rate, and useful lap or interval detail. Only then connect STAS and ask ChatGPT or Claude.ai to update your data.

Before you start

  • Your Huawei watch must already sync correctly to the Huawei Health app.
  • In Huawei Health, Health Service Kit must be linked under Me → 3rd Party Services.
  • You need an Intervals.icu account and access to Settings → Connections.
  • For ChatGPT or Claude.ai, use the same Intervals.icu account when signing in to STAS.

Step-by-step setup

  1. 1Open Huawei Health on your phone and sync the watch first. If the workout is not visible in Huawei Health, Intervals.icu and STAS cannot see it.
  2. 2In Huawei Health, open Me → 3rd Party Services and make sure Health Service Kit is linked. This is the bridge that sends Huawei Health data to Huawei Cloud and then to connected services.
  3. 3Open Intervals.icu → Settings → Connections and find the HUAWEI Health box. Start the authorization flow and enable the data types you want to sync.
  4. 4After authorization, open Huawei Health again and sync the watch. New activities are normally delivered automatically; Intervals.icu also polls recent activity data when you visit it.
  5. 5In Intervals.icu, open Activities and check whether a recent Huawei workout appears. If you need older data, use Download Old Data, but native Huawei history is limited to one year.
  6. 6Only after the workout is correct in Intervals.icu, sign in to STAS with that Intervals.icu account. In ChatGPT, open STAS GPT. In Claude.ai, add STAS as a custom connector.

What to verify before using ChatGPT or Claude.ai

Do this on one real workout, not on the account connection screen. STAS can only coach from the fields that reached Intervals.icu.

  • Correct date and sport type.
  • Duration, distance, pace, and GPS track.
  • Heart rate data and whether it looks plausible.
  • Lap or interval structure if you want interval analysis.
  • Workout notes or subjective report if you use them in STAS.
  • A second new workout syncing automatically after the first setup.

Use Huawei data with ChatGPT or Claude.ai

After Intervals.icu shows a real Huawei workout, the AI side is simple: ChatGPT and Claude.ai read the same STAS context. The setup path is different.

ChatGPT

  1. 1Open STAS GPT in ChatGPT.
  2. 2Authorize with the same Intervals.icu account you used for Huawei.
  3. 3Ask “Update my data” first, then ask for workout analysis, weekly comparison, or plan changes.

Claude.ai

  1. 1Open Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector in Claude.
  2. 2Paste the STAS connector URL: https://stas.run/api/mcp.
  3. 3Finish Intervals.icu sign-in with the same account you used for Huawei.
  4. 4Enable STAS in the Claude chat and ask Claude to update your data before analysis or planning.

Why not just use Strava’s official connector?

Strava’s official connector is useful if you want an AI client to discuss your Strava history. STAS solves a different job: it prepares training context for coaching and planning.

Strava connector

Good for read-only questions about activities, trends, and history that already live in Strava.

STAS

Connects Intervals.icu, your saved profile, goals, rules, reports, calendar, and planning flow so ChatGPT or Claude.ai can work from more than the current chat.

Huawei route

For STAS, first verify Huawei → Intervals.icu through the native connection or a valid Health Sync fallback. STAS can only use the fields that actually reached Intervals.icu.

Why avoid Strava as the middle step

Strava-routed workouts may be visible in Intervals.icu, but details such as pace, heart rate, power, laps, intervals, and similar fields may be unavailable for coaching. Direct source → Intervals.icu, or FIT import, is better when possible.

What usually works

Completed activities

Runs, rides, and other completed activities can be downloaded by Intervals.icu when Huawei Health is connected.

Wellness

Steps, sleep, resting heart rate, weight, body fat, blood pressure, menstrual cycle, and VO2 max can be available depending on what Huawei provides.

Automatic sync

Activities and wellness can arrive through webhooks. Intervals.icu also polls recent data when you visit the app.

STAS / ChatGPT / Claude.ai

Once the workout is in Intervals.icu, STAS can prepare it for ChatGPT or Claude.ai: recent history, workout detail, condition context, and plan discussion.

Sending planned workouts back to Huawei

This is useful, but more limited than Garmin. Treat it as a convenience feature, not as proof that every structured workout will behave perfectly.

  1. 1Intervals.icu uploads the next planned run, walk, or hike scheduled in the next week. Other activity types are skipped.
  2. 2Only one planned workout is uploaded at a time. A completed workout that is already paired with an activity is skipped.
  3. 3You can manually choose another planned workout in Intervals.icu with Upload to Huawei.
  4. 4In Huawei Health, look under Exercise → Outdoor run → My running courses. Walks and hikes may also appear there.
  5. 5Tap the watch icon in Huawei Health to send the course to the watch. On the watch, open Workout → Outdoor Run → Courses → Custom Courses.

Important limits

  • Do not assume Garmin-level detail. Huawei devices may record heart rate and some other fields every 5 seconds, while GPS can be second-by-second.
  • The original Huawei FIT file is not available through the Huawei API. Intervals.icu generates a FIT file for its import pipeline.
  • Native historical fetch for Huawei activities and wellness is limited to one year.
  • The Huawei API does not currently provide a simple daily morning HRV value; if HRV matters, verify what actually appears in Intervals.icu.
  • Kilometer splits or pool-length segments may be missing if Huawei does not provide lap events. You may need to create intervals manually in Intervals.icu.
  • For structured workout upload, keep the workout simple first: avoid ramps, give rest steps a target when needed, and test with one easy session before trusting key sessions.

Troubleshooting

No activities found
  • Confirm Health Service Kit is linked in Huawei Health.
  • Open Huawei Health and sync the watch after linking Health Service Kit.
  • Wait a day and try Download Old Data again; some users saw old data appear after Huawei cloud sync had time to catch up.
  • Remember: native Huawei old data is limited to one year.
Region or country error
  • If Intervals.icu reports that the account region is not included in HealthKit support, this is a Huawei account/region limitation, not a STAS issue.
  • Check Huawei account region and Huawei Health availability in your country. If native sync is blocked, consider Health Sync as a fallback route.
Workout is in Intervals.icu but looks too flat
  • Check heart rate resolution and lap detail. Huawei data can be less detailed than Garmin data.
  • For missing 1 km splits, use Intervals.icu interval generation or split the activity manually.
  • For swimming or unusual distance issues, verify the activity in Intervals.icu first before asking ChatGPT or Claude.ai for conclusions.
Planned workout does not appear on the watch
  • Make sure it is a run, walk, or hike scheduled in the next week.
  • Check that only one planned workout is being uploaded.
  • Look in Huawei Health under Outdoor run → My running courses, then send it to the watch with the watch icon.
  • Simplify the workout if upload fails: remove ramps and test a basic steady session first.

Fallback route: Health Sync

If native Huawei Health support is unavailable for your account, Health Sync can be a practical fallback on Android and iOS. It supports Huawei Health and Intervals.icu, can run automatic background sync, and may help with historical data. Because it is a third-party app, verify privacy, cost, and exactly which data types it can sync for your setup.

When to connect STAS

Connect STAS after Intervals.icu already shows a useful Huawei workout. Then use STAS in ChatGPT or Claude.ai and ask: “Update my data”, “Review my latest Huawei workout”, or “Compare this week with my plan”. If the workout is missing or incomplete in Intervals.icu, fix that first.
