WHOOP and AI
Connect WHOOP to ChatGPT and Claude with Your Workouts
WHOOP ChatGPT and Claude integration through STAS: connect WHOOP to Intervals.icu, and STAS shows ChatGPT or Claude your sleep, resting heart rate and HRV together with your workouts. Workouts come from your sports watch, connected to Intervals.icu separately. This is not an official WHOOP connector.
Connect Intervals.icu dataSTAS starts free, no credit card. A custom connector in ChatGPT or Claude depends on your ChatGPT or Claude plan.
Short answer
The working route is WHOOP → Intervals.icu → STAS → ChatGPT or Claude. WHOOP adds recovery data, your watch adds the workouts, and the AI reads both from one place.
- ✓Intervals.icu syncs wellness data from WHOOP: sleep, resting heart rate, HRV and more. The exact fields depend on what WHOOP sends.
- ✓STAS shares wellness values downloaded from Intervals.icu with ChatGPT and Claude. Recent data may take time to appear.
- ✓Workouts come from your sports watch. Connect the watch to Intervals.icu as well.
- ✓One STAS account works in both ChatGPT and Claude, with the same saved context.
First useful action
Your watch data becomes useful only after it reaches the coaching conversation
Garmin, Apple Watch, and other devices send the training record to Intervals.icu. STAS turns it into context for ChatGPT or Claude.
Connect the source of truth
Intervals.icu keeps workouts, calendar, load, zones, and recent history in one place.
Let AI see real context
STAS prepares that data so ChatGPT or Claude can answer from your actual training, not a pasted summary.
Ask for the next decision
Start with a clear analysis or action: recovery check, missed workout, next week, or one session to adjust.
STAS reads only the training data you approve through Intervals.icu. Start with one practical question: current condition, a workout review, or what to change next.
Connect Intervals.icu dataRoutes compared
Pick by what you want the AI to do with your recovery data.
Copying WHOOP numbers into a chat by hand
Pros: nothing to set up. Cons: the AI sees only the days you paste, without your workouts, and the history is lost between chats.
Intervals.icu's own connector
Pros: official, works with Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Grok, can add, move and delete calendar workouts after you confirm. Cons: needs the Supporter plan ($4 a month on 6 November 2026).
STAS
Pros: one STAS account and shared saved context across ChatGPT and Claude, a ready summary of load, workouts and wellness, plan written to the calendar after your confirmation. Cons: needs an Intervals.icu account, and workouts must come from a watch.
What WHOOP adds to the AI's answers
Sleep, resting heart rate and HRV describe recovery; workouts describe load. Together they help you see how load relates to recovery.
- ✓Was my sleep shorter in the weeks my long runs grew?
- ✓My HRV is lower than usual this week. Should I keep Thursday's intervals?
- ✓Compare my resting heart rate with my training load over the last month.
Steps: from WHOOP to ChatGPT or Claude
You need an Intervals.icu account, your WHOOP account and a sports watch for workouts.
- 1Create an Intervals.icu account if you do not have one.
- 2In Intervals.icu settings, connect WHOOP and allow access to your WHOOP data.
- 3Connect your sports watch to Intervals.icu too, so workouts arrive there.
- 4Check in Intervals.icu that last night's sleep, resting heart rate or HRV has arrived.
- 5Sign in to STAS with the same Intervals.icu account.
- 6Connect ChatGPT or Claude as shown below, then ask the AI to update your data.
Connect STAS to ChatGPT or Claude
ChatGPT and Claude use the same STAS data. Sign in with the Intervals.icu account that receives your workouts.
ChatGPT
- 1Open chatgpt.com on a computer, in a browser. Turn on Developer mode: Settings → Security and login → Developer mode.
- 2Go to Plugins, select + and choose Add custom MCP server.
- 3In Name, enter STAS. Keep Server URL and paste https://stas.run/api/mcp. In Authentication, choose OAuth.
- 4Tick I understand and want to continue and select Create. When ChatGPT asks you to sign in, use Intervals.icu.
- 5In a chat, type @, select STAS and ask your question.
No Developer mode or Add custom MCP server in your ChatGPT? Use the older option, STAS GPT. It opens as a separate chat, runs on an older ChatGPT model and is no longer updated.
Claude
- 1In Claude, open Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector.
- 2Paste the STAS connector URL: https://stas.run/api/mcp.
- 3Finish the sign-in through Intervals.icu with the same account.

How to check that the AI sees your WHOOP data
Check the data for a specific day, not just the connection screen.
- 1In ChatGPT or Claude, write: Update my data, then show my sleep, resting heart rate and HRV for the last seven days.
- 2Compare the answer with the data for the same days in Intervals.icu.
- 3If a day is missing, check whether it reached Intervals.icu. STAS shows only what Intervals.icu has saved.
- 4Ask about one recent workout to check that workouts arrive from the watch too.
What the AI can and cannot see
The AI can see
- ✓WHOOP wellness data that Intervals.icu has saved, such as sleep, resting heart rate and HRV.
- ✓Workouts that reached Intervals.icu from your watch.
- ✓Your calendar, goals, profile and rules saved in STAS.
The AI cannot see
- ✓WHOOP data that did not reach Intervals.icu. STAS gets data through Intervals.icu, not from WHOOP directly.
- ✓Workouts, if no watch or other source sends them to Intervals.icu.
- ✓Anything you did not record or sync.
STAS reads only data you approve through Intervals.icu. How STAS handles it is described in the privacy policy.
How STAS differs from a direct connector
An official connector gives an AI access to one service. STAS adds the following on top of your Intervals.icu data.
One STAS account for every watch brand
Add the same STAS connector to ChatGPT and to Claude, and both work with the same saved context.
Context, not raw data
The AI gets a ready summary of load, workouts, wellness, profile, goals and rules, so answers rest on your own history.
The plan returns to the calendar
After you confirm, the plan is written to your calendar, and from there to the watch where the brand supports it.
A convenient interface instead of manual setup
No terminal or API keys. Profile and settings on the site, reports in Telegram, start without a card.
