Amazfit Interval Workouts: Zepp Templates and Intervals.icu

Amazfit interval workouts have two practical routes: build a workout template in Zepp, or push a structured session from Intervals.icu on supported watches. STAS.run can then help ChatGPT or Claude review whether the interval session fits your recent training load.

Quick answer: use Zepp templates or Intervals.icu push

Amazfit interval workouts can be created manually in Zepp or pushed from Intervals.icu on supported models. Zepp templates are the safe fallback. Intervals.icu push is better when your plan already lives in a calendar.

Manual Zepp template: best fallback for most Amazfit models. Build warm-up, interval repeats, recovery and cool-down inside Zepp.

Intervals.icu push: best for T-Rex 3 Pro and Balance 2 when the plan already lives in the Intervals.icu calendar.

If the workout does not appear on the watch, first check model support, Zepp sync, and whether the workout is a supported run or ride type.

Why interval training matters

Easy running builds volume tolerance but rarely improves speed. Intervals push you above the lactate threshold, triggering key adaptations: the heart pumps more blood per beat and muscles clear lactate faster.

Rule: 80% of training volume is easy running, 20% is hard effort. Intervals make up that 20%.

Frequency: 1–2 interval sessions per week. More isn't better: recovery takes 48–72 hours.

How to create an interval workout in Zepp

Zepp lets you build a workout from blocks: warm-up, intervals, cool-down. Each block is configured separately.

1

Open Workout templates

Zepp → Workout tab → Workout templates → tap "+" in the top right → select "Running".

2

Add a warm-up

Tap "Add step" → select "Warm up" → set length by time (e.g. 10 min) or distance (1 km).

3

Configure the interval block

"Add step" → "Interval" → set: number of repetitions, work segment (time or distance + target pace/HR), rest segment (easy jog or walk).

4

Add cool-down and save

"Add step" → "Cool down" → 5–10 min easy run → "Save". The template syncs to the watch on the next connection.

Limitation: Zepp doesn't allow setting different targets for each repeat. All work segments in a block share the same settings.

Types of intervals

Three main types — each for a different purpose. Choice depends on the current training phase.

Tempo

HR: Z3–Z4 (lactate threshold). Pace: 15–20 sec/km slower than 10K race pace.

Example: 3×10 min at LTHR pace, 3 min jog recovery

VO2max

HR: Z5. Pace: 3–5K race pace. Segment length: 3–5 min — until full HR rise.

Example: 5×4 min at 5K pace, 3 min jog recovery

Speed

HR is not the main guide. Pace: faster than 1K race pace. Length: 100–400 m.

Example: 8×200 m at max pace, 90 sec rest

Pushing workouts from Intervals.icu

Intervals.icu can create structured workouts and push them directly to the watch, but only for supported Amazfit models such as T-Rex 3 Pro and Balance 2.

1

Connect Amazfit to Intervals.icu

Intervals.icu → Settings → Devices → Add device → select Amazfit. Authorize via your Zepp account.

2

Create a workout in the plan

In the Intervals.icu calendar, add a workout with interval steps. Use library templates or build from scratch.

3

Sync to watch

The day before, tap "Send to device" on the workout card in Intervals.icu. Next time Zepp syncs, the watch gets it.

T-Rex 3 Pro and Balance 2 only. On other Amazfit models, workout sync from Intervals.icu is not supported. Use Zepp templates manually.

Tips for better interval sessions

Technique and execution matter more than numbers on screen.

Don't start too fast. The first 2–3 repeats should feel like "could go faster" — the last ones will push the limit.

Monitor recovery HR, not just work HR. If it doesn't drop to Z2 during rest — intensity is too high or volume too much.

Warm up at least 10 minutes. Intervals without warm-up raise injury risk and hurt performance.

Log perceived effort (RPE) after each session. Compare with HR — mismatches signal fatigue or overtraining early.

Frequently asked questions

Can I set intervals by pace instead of heart rate?

Yes. In a Zepp template you choose a target for each segment: pace, HR or effort. Pace works better for speed intervals, HR for aerobic ones.

Which Amazfit models support Intervals.icu sync?

Only T-Rex 3 Pro and Balance 2. Other models support only manual template creation in Zepp.

How many steps fit in one template?

Up to 20 steps per template, including warm-up and cool-down. The interval block can repeat up to 99 times.

How does the watch display intervals during a workout?

Screen shows: current step (work/rest), remaining time or distance, target values. Vibration on step change.

Can I import a workout from Strava or Garmin Connect?

No. Zepp doesn't support direct import. Workouts are created manually in Zepp or via Intervals.icu (T-Rex 3 Pro and Balance 2 only).
